hi i am going to teach you how to restore a pc after it has screwed up..
first off back up everything that you want to keep. if you are able too.. get a
cd copier or external harddrive, or a large capacity disk.. then make sure
you have all your devices disks video, sound, modem, and other devices,
if you dont have a device cd, you will need to download drivers first. you can
see what drivers you need, by right clicking on your desktop, clicking prop-
erties then click device manager. make sure you create a start up disk with
windows before you format to create one goto control panel, click add new
programs then create start up disk..
you can also download ( ultimate bootdisk ) at startdisk.com it has alot of ad-
vanced tools for your pc like cloning drives or making particians..
to format exit to dos... if you cant get there put in your windows 9x cd and
boot with that.. hit boot from cd rom when prompted.. boot computer with
cd rom support.. now type format c:/ and click yes proceed with format.. if
the format is not working. u will need to find format.com dos program. you
can either pop in the floppy you created then type a: to goto floppy drive. or
you can find it on the windows 98 cd in the folder win9x/command i think.
find the directory its in and when inside it. type ( format c: ) again and it will
work. if it still dont email me and i will send you format.com. after its done
formating it will ask for a volume label, thats just what you name the c: you
dont have to put nothing, or you can name it.. its up to you.. ok now your
computer is toally empty.. now its time to install windows..
if your computer is a older one, like 486 type old you will have to install your
cd rom first. but if your not in the stone age all you have to do is pop in your
windows cd and reboot, but sometimes the boot from cdrom feature is turn-
ed off in your bios, you will have to go in there and change the ( boot seq ) it
may just be c:/ only change it to cd rom first then floppy then c:/ it will check
for a cd rom first, then a floppy disk, then if not either of them the harddrive
kicks in.. well anyways pop the cd in and reboot it will say boot from cd rom
or hardrive. choose cd rom then choose install windows. there is also start
computer with cd rom support.. that will take you to dos..
alright follow the prompts, just read as you go it will be easy. then after its all
done installing. it will ask you for your product key: it is windows password
code they think this cuts down on piracy, like you cant write down a code??
heh dumb bill gates. he is such a silly goose, well anyways type down this
long ass code, you can find it on a book that came with your windows cd
when you purchased it its on the cover, sometimes they have stuck the code
on the case when you buy the computer from a store, which i think is the
best idea anyone came up with.. simple yet effective. type this code on if
you cant find it. you are kinda screwed *cough*cough*pe*cough*er2*cough*
pe*cough*er damn this pollen in the air , it really screws with your sinuses
where was i, ohh yeah your screwed without that 25 letter code uhh yeah. ok
well after windows is done installing, you will need to install all your drivers
and then copy all the stuff back to your computer that you backed up..
now its time to install your device drivers after windows is installed. be in win-
dows. for modem right click on desktop click properties, then device man-
ager.. click refresh at the bottom then look in there for the communication
device it found in there thats your modem click on that then click update
driver goto the directory you have the drivers in and it will have a driver info
file in there that tells where the drivers go and what they do. for sound card it
is the same way but it will say audio device update the drivers and go find
them and install them video card is different you will have to have a install-
ation disk or a installation off the net there usually pretty big in size 5mb or so.
