this is a demostration of how to setup a pop3 email account
ok im going to show you how to setup a pop3 email account.
first off open up outlook express. ( start ) ( run ) and type
( msimn ) and that should launch microsoft outlook express.
click tools at the top. then click accounts. click add, then click mail.
it will ask for display name. you can either put your real name, nickname, or your
email address. then it will ask for email address.
for the demostration put ( testuser@dittmerdan.net ) and click next.
it will ask for incoming pop3 and outgoing smtp servers. put
( mail.dittmerdan.net ) as pop3 and put ( anything ) as smtp
for account name put ( testuser@dittmerdan.net ) and password put
( pass123 ), now click next, then click finish.
now send a email to ( testuser@dittmerdan.net ) using your own email account
and click send and receive on outlook and it will download it.
ok you setup a pop3 email account. it should be simular for your pop3
but it will be different host, username, ports. this account has a quota of
1mb of storage.
using aol email as pop3 & smtp
first open outlook express. click tools. then click accounts. click add, then mail.
for username put ( screenname@aol.com ). then for email address put ( screenname@aol.com )
for pop3 server put ( pop.aol.com ) for smtp put ( smtp.aol.com ) then click next
for account name put ( screenname@aol.com ) put your aol password for password.
then click next. then click finish.
now highlight ( pop.aol.com ) from the list and click properties on the right. on the general tab
put ( screenname@aol.com ) as reply address. on the servers tab. check my server requires authentication
at the very bottom. then click settings on the right. and make sure it has use same settings as incoming.
now skip over and click the advanced tab. for outgoing mail(smtp) change port from ( 25 ) to ( 587 ) now click ok.
and close all that down. and your aol email account should be setup. to be used on outlook express.
