basic circuitry by: bugtreker & dittmerdan...

howdy kids.. your favorite worthless loser dittmerdan wannabe tech is at it again.. to show basic circuitry.. and we have a special guest today.. hes old, hes a bug.. put your hands together for bugtreker.. lol bug helped me while i was learning circuitry.. so i have to give him props..

i am going to show you pictures of different circuit components and tell what they do. and what to get to make your very own project.. and a sample circuit..

resistor
this is a resistor.. it lowers (resists) voltage so you can control what voltage goes into a certain circuit.. because some circuits will fry with too much current.. there are different sizes depending what you need.
adjustable resistor
this is an adjustable resistor.. its a resistor that you can control the resistance, by moving the lever to the desired position. also sometimes used for radio freq. tuning..
photoresistor
this is a photoresistor.. its a resistor that determines its resistance from light.. you can use it for burglar alarms and things like that..
capacitor
this is a capacitor.. its basically a small battery that holds a charge for a few seconds. purpose of that is because when you turn the power off of a circuit.. it wont just shut off really quick that might cause damage to a circuit.. instead it whimpers down.
diode
this is a diode.. a diode is used to control which way a current travels. purpose of that. power can sometimes jump backwards and can fry a certain circuit. like a power surge.
light emitting diode
this is a ( LED ) light emitting diode.. it works the same as a diode. only letting a current travel one way.. but it also is a light..
transistor
this is a transistor.. its used as a switch. a small current. will let a larger current travel.. there is two different kinds PNP and NPN transistors.. a scr (gate) is similar to a transistor, but have to power down to close gate. you need a resistor on all.
relay
this is a relay.. its a electric controlled switch. to change the direction of the current.. it turns something off and powers something else..
integrated circuit
this is a ( IC ) integrated circuit.. its a premade circuit. to add to your project. so you dont have to make a complex circuit. its already made. just have to connect it to where it needs to go.. makes projects a heck alot easier..
transformer
this is a transformer.. you see these on electric poles and nintendos etc.. it lowers voltage.. it will change 110 to 12 volt or 12 to 3v.. 10,000 volts to 110v.. it just depends what size transformer you got..
switches
this is a picture of different switches.. they come in different styles and sizes.. its just a switch.. like you use to turn on a light in your house.. you need a strong enough switch for the voltage your using. or they will burn up. it simply connects a current.
battery box
this is a battery box. you put batteries in it and it powers your circuit. you can combine as many as you want together.. you can run them together and get 110 volts if you want.. + to - , + to - ..
small speaker
this is a small speaker. its used to hear sounds in circuits.. used for a radio, doorbell, or alarm.. you can also use a headphone jack. so you could hook external speakers up.
copper clad
this is a copper clad circuit board. its what you use to make your own project. those greenboards are factory boards.. they also make pegboard circuit boards.. thats if you change the board alot. solderless..
solder iron
this is a solder iron. you need this and a spool of solder.. in order to make the circuit components connect to the copper clad board..

ok to make your own project you will need a copper clad board. a permanent marker and some feric acid.. and a glass preferably pan to dip it in.. or a plastic box.. first design your layout.. where your going to put each circuit.. then draw where you want the lines to be on the copper clad board.. then when your all done.. pour the feric acid into the pan your using then dip the board into it for 2-4 hours.. then remove it.. it will eat the copper off except where you drew.. and your design should be there to solder too.. or you can buy a project box from radio shack..

here is a sample circuit i made. by looking at it you might be able to tell what it does.. it is a flood alarm for like a basement or near a sub pump. you put the cables on the ground not touching each other.. and if you hear the alarm your basement is flooded. and you must get off your ass and snake out your drainage pipe from your basement.. listen to the alarm..

basement flood alarm

if you think this is too complicated of a circuit. then get a christmas tree bulb unravel it from the strand and stick it into a 110 outlet =) there you go.. thats basic. and you can also stick your christmas tree up your ass.

and if your looking for a good toy for your kid to learn circuitry.. nothing better then snap circuits. you can learn and create circuits.. without ever soldering.. and you can reuse it over and over.. like building blocks..
